GENERAL UPDATES: SAA and Spring SNAC Schedule!

We had such a FANTASTIC time at the Society of American Archivists Annual Meeting in New Orleans last week! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to SNAC with us at the information table during the conference, joined us for happy hour and SNACs at Lucy’s, and to those who attended our in-person SNACSchool event! Special thanks to the wonderful librarians at Tulane University Libraries for hosting our SNACSchool event!

New Orleans was HOT, but kept it cool at the conference handing out postcards, buttons, and snacks (of course!) and chatted about SNAC, potential projects and other general archives topics. At SNACSchool, 4 new graduates learned how to Create and Edit in SNAC and were joined by some long-term SNACers to round out the experience. Post-COVID, it is always so nice to be in the same room as folks with similar interests!

Save the Date: Spring SNAC Events!

Due to our increased outreach, revamped working groups, and excellent planning, we have had to pick Spring event dates earlier than usual! The events below do not have open registrations yet, but we encourage you to save the date and check back soon.

All of the events below are virtual unless otherwise noted!

  • Research and Reference | January 20, 1-3 pm EST
  • Create and Edit | February 10, 1-5 pm EST—This particular Create and Edit session will cover the normal curriculum, but will also focus on the inclusion of item level resources to SNAC records.
  • State of the Cooperative | March 24, 1-4 pm EST
  • Research and Reference | April 14, 1-3 pm EST
  • Create and Edit | May 19, 1-5 pm EST
  • Train the Trainer | June 16, 1-3 pm EST

Last but not least…

We might as well include the dates to the rest of our Fall SNAC events!

  • Create and Edit | August 26, 1-5 pm EST [CLOSED—Class Full!]
  • Research and Reference | September 23, 1-3 pm EST Register
  • Create and Edit | October 14, 1-5 pm EST Register
  • Merging Entities (and Merge-A-Thon) | November 12, 12-1 pm EST Register—For this particular event, interested parties can register for just the training session from 12-1 OR for the Merge-A-Thon from 2-5 OR both! Participants in the Merge-A-Thon must complete Create and Edit and the Merge training session in order to participate fully.
